Yi is an Equity/Investment Research Director with Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., a national investment boutique. His experience ranges from analyzing public securities and private equity investments with a focus on cross capital structure (equity and credit) research.
Prior to Oppenheimer, Yi was an Investment Associate (buyside) with Eli Global, LLC, a conglomeration of independent portfolios focused in the healthcare, tech, insurance, and financial services sector. Prior to Eli Global, Yi was at Wedbush Securities, Susquehanna International Group, LLP and Sterne Agee CRT, which are institutional broker-dealers focused on equity/investment research. Before Sterne Agee CRT, Yi was a VP/Senior Investment Analyst with Novidam Capital, a private equity firm focused on searching, acquiring, and operating middle market companies. At Novidam, he assisted the founder in the review of potential leverage buyouts, financial modeling/valuation, due diligence, and he coached a team of five associates. Previous to Novidam, Yi served as a senior valuation/financial analyst at Canaan Partners, a venture capital firm focused in technology and healthcare investments. He oversaw the funds’ investment valuation and portfolio analytics.
Prior to Canaan Partners, Yi was a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) M&A Transaction Services practice. He worked with a number of private equity funds and large corporations as an M&A advisor. Yi assisted clients to identify key deal issues to maximize deal value on proposed mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and buyouts. Yi also has extensive experience in the Alternative Investments and Banking & Capital Markets sector having spent over five years as an external auditor at PwC.
Yi holds the following designations, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). Additionally, he holds the FINRA Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 licenses. Yi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting Major with honors and Finance Concentration from Binghamton University.
