Kris Thiessen, CFA, CAIA, EA
Kris J. Thiessen, CFA, CAIA, EA, is the Founder and Managing Partner of Helix Management. Kris serves as an advisor to individuals, institutional investors and entrepreneurs, bringing over 20 years of finance experience. He founded Helix Management in 2002 to focus on investments in public and private life sciences companies, royalties, structured transactions and investment funds. Kris also advises individuals and business owners on tax matters, including compliance, controversy and planning.
At CFA Society New York, Kris serves as Chair of the Alternative Investments Group and has been elected to serve on the Nominations Committee.
Kris began his investment career at Goldman Sachs, where he helped build a new proprietary trading effort. He also worked in the equity derivatives and healthcare investment banking groups at Goldman Sachs. Prior to his business life, Kris was a principal investigator for experiments on two Space Shuttle missions.
Kris received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics cum laude from Harvard College and his Certificate in Income Tax Planning and Reporting from New York University. He is enrolled in the Master’s of Science in Taxation program at Baruch College Zicklin School of Business. Kris has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and Enrolled Agent designations.
