Kris Thiessen, CFA, CAIA, EA
Kris founded Helix Management in 2002 to focus on investments in public and private life sciences companies, royalties, structured transactions and investment funds. He also advises individuals and business owners on tax matters, including compliance, controversy and planning.
At the CFA Society New York, Kris serves on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Alternative Investments Group, our largest member interest group. Kris co-created the Annual Private Equity and Venture Capital Conference at CFANY. Previously, Kris was elected to serve on the Nominations Committee and was recognized as a CFANY 2018 Volunteer of the Year.
Kris began his investment career at Goldman Sachs, where he helped build a new proprietary trading effort, and worked in equity derivatives and healthcare investment banking.
Prior to his business life, Kris was a principal investigator for experiments on two Space Shuttle missions.
Kris received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics cum laudefrom Harvard College, his Certificate in Income Tax Planning and Reporting from New York University, and his Master’s of Science in Taxation from Baruch College Zicklin School of Business.
He has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and Enrolled Agent designations.
