Senior Manager / Coordinating Director, Marketing Strategy

Location: New York Reporting Relationship: This position will report to the CEO

Roles and Responsibilities

CFA Society New York (CFANY) is looking for an experienced and talented Senior Manager / Coordinating Director of Marketing Strategy. The individual will report to the CEO and will be expected to take responsibility for setting and executing the firm’s marketing strategy. This is a newly created role within the firm and offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the company’s overall marketing efforts and help support the growth of the firm in non-traditional markets. This is a hands-on-role that will require both strategic thinking and execution. This position is responsible for working with internal groups (Membership, BOD, Programming Committee, Staff Leadership, Volunteer Leadership, etc.) to develop marketing strategies that will highlight value propositions, drive incremental membership, deliver improved member satisfaction, and target new members. The position is also responsible for managing marketing campaigns, managing vendors that assist with marketing, and other various CFANY efforts.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Ownership and overall leadership of marketing and development of a long-term vision and marketing plan for CFANY
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that align with CFANY’s business goals
  • Strategic management of channel marketing, creative, marketing communication, and budget management
  • Assist with designing unique offerings that will drive increased membership through existing and new programs
  • Build strategic working relationships across a number of functional teams (Membership, BOD, Programming Committee, Staff Leadership, Volunteer Leadership, etc.)  to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals
  • Plan and execute all web, email, social media, print and display advertising campaigns
  • Utilize SEO/SEM/PPC tools and build into digital marketing programs
  • Oversee the social media strategy for the firm
  • Improve usability, design and content of the website by developing a deeper understanding of member and potential member behavior
  • Leverage and shape existing content for different market segments and distribution channels
  • Evaluate ROI and deliver regular performance reports
  • Provide input into the budget process and manage costs within budgeted guidelines
  • Responsible for marketing research using internal and external resources Oversee and refine the compilation and reporting of statistical data and analytics
  • Writing and proofreading creative copy
  • Coordinating internal marketing (for volunteer leaders) and defining Society’s front-facing culture
  • Develop reliable and mutually-beneficial relationships with media members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills
  • At least five years of experience in a marketing role, ideally with knowledge of the financial industry
  • Ability to manage cross functional teams and complete highly visible projects
  • Strategic thinker able to create an impactful marketing strategy that delivers increased membership and engagement from existing members as well as targets new members
  • Experience creating and implementing digital marketing initiatives through email, social, print and managing SEO/SEM tools
  • Demonstrable creativity and experience in ability to identify target audiences and devise campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Experience managing CMS and website design agencies and, ideally, also have experience with CRM, CMS and website projects
  • Strong project management skills and an ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Highly advanced/effective communication skills, both written and verbal, presenting to various audiences.
  • Knowledge of website analytics tools (Google Analytics, etc.) and other third-party software such as Google AdWords
  • Experience managing targeted social media campaigns, including paid campaigns
  • Creativity and writing skills
  • Networking ability

Member and Volunteer Engagement Manager

Position Summary:

The Member and Volunteer Engagement Manager is a relationship management, mission critical and revenue building role. The Member and Volunteer Engagement Manager is a key member of CFA Society New York’s team and will serve as a main point of contact for members and volunteers. This role oversees and facilitates group meetings in addition to helping to curate and manage Society events. The successful candidate will elevate the overall volunteer experience. The Society places a strong value on providing an exceptional volunteer experience and it is the job of the Member and Volunteer Engagement Manager to ensure that we support our volunteers with a high degree of excellence. We want our volunteers and members to have pride in their association with the CFA Society New York and to be actively engaged.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with members and volunteers to initiate programming efforts
  • Demonstrate positive leadership abilities to work together with staff to plan, direct and execute all programming efforts
  • Understand the importance of member’s, leader’s organizer’s and attendee’s time through delivery of high quality and proactive service
  • Manage a comprehensive range of annual events and activities that advance the mission of the CFA Society New York
  • Facilitate the work of volunteers involved in the event planning process (i.e., committee chairs, vice chairs, actively involved members) to reach appropriate goals
  • Support volunteer engagement and member outreach by directly participating in phone, email and in-person cultivation and solicitation
  • Facilitate and attend interest group meetings and events
  • Be a solution provider for scheduled meetings
  • Participate in planning meetings, accept special assignments, assist colleagues and provide support for all ongoing programs and operations as needed
  • Document, analyze, track and report the outcome of each key interaction with constituents
  • Produce post event analyses/after action reports
  • Participate in other departmental initiatives as required

Data Analyst, Excel Specialist & Project Manager

Location: New York Reporting Relationship: This position will report to the CEO

Position Summary:

CFA Society New York is looking for an experienced Data Manager, Excel Specialist & Project Manager, to oversee the development and use of data systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of databases and data analysis procedures. You will also be tech-savvy and possess excellent troubleshooting skills. You will discover efficient ways to organize, store and analyze data with attention to security and confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data
  • Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects
  • Create models and queries in excel and other programs
  • Assist with reports and data extraction
  • Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with upper management
  • Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)
  • Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses
  • Troubleshoot data related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications

Skills & Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a data manager
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution, etc.)
  • Excellent understanding of excel data and project status report compiling
  • Extensive experience with data cleansing and analysis, using pivot tables, formulas (v-lookup and others), conditional formatting, graph and chart manipulation.
  • Capability to oversee a team of contractors and interns who will assist with report population and data cleansing
  • Familiarity with modern database and information system technologies
  • Self-starter who is energetic and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Team Oriented and ability to work with various levels of management and staff
  • Familiarity with Association Anywhere, iMIS, Salesforce and/or Tableau, a plus
  • Financial industry experience is a plus
  • BSc/BA in computer science or related field a plus

Director of Institutional Engagement

Position Summary:

CFA Society New York is looking for a top performing professional to advance our corporate sponsorships and institutional partnerships.  This individual will work with a team to maintain and grow corporate sponsorships and institutional partnerships.

The Director of Institutional Engagement will also work with the CEO to identify needs, design and launch innovative new revenue streams from grants, donations and special events. This Director is a key member of CFA Society New York’s team and will serve as a key point of contact for institutional relationships and large potential contributors. 

Resource and deliver financial and other support from Institutional Partners to supporthigh value, solution-based event, conference and/or research driven initiatives.  Identify areas of alignment to successfully integrate member driven content, recognized industry thought leadership and relevant education.  Focus on event and account management, client retention and year on year growth from each relationship.

Proactively increase impact and the universe of opportunities. The CFA Society New York currently hosts 80+ events per year.
