Overview

In 2019:

  • Only 2.8% ($3.3bn) of capital invested in the US went to all-female founded teams[1]
  • Fewer than 10% of decision-makers at venture capital firms are women[2]
  • More female-founded unicorns were established than ever before; 14.8% of all unicorns, historically, were founded in 2019[3].

While new data may indicate improvement, there is still a long way to go.

In its sixth year, the Alpha Women: Thinking about Female Entrepreneurship in a Post-Covid World event will feature women who leveraged their financial expertise to launch their own businesses, or to join a start-up. Speakers will explore the why, when, and how they went about leaving the corporate world in order to pursue their passion. Discussion will cover funding, timing, and the realities of working in a small team—and seek to answer the following questions:

  • What does it take to create or join a start-up?
  • What is the experience of female entrepreneurship?
