Overview

The author of the bestselling classic, Financial Shenanigans, Howard Schilit, is at CFA Society New York to discuss his brand-new, 25th Anniversary Edition of Financial Shenanigans. Schilit has been called the “Sherlock Holmes of Accounting” because of his ability to find and identify corporate frauds. In his review of this new edition, he walks us through frauds and provides investors with the tools they need to detect:

  • Corporate cultures that incentivize dishonest practices
  • The latest tricks companies use to exaggerate revenue and earnings
  • Techniques devised by management to manipulate cash flow as easily as earnings
  • Companies that use misleading metrics to fool investors about their financial performance
  • How companies use acquisitions to hide deterioration in their underlying business

Inclement weather

CFANY reserves the right to cancel or reschedule all in-person events within 48 hours when inclement weather has been forecasted and travel is restricted by city officials.  The program may also be produced solely via livestream in such circumstances.  Please note the cancellation policy regarding refunds and substitutions.
